In memory of youth who sacrificed their life for Telangana

Dear Friends,

Jai Bhim.

The revival of Telangana movement, in the last few years, has witnessed a large scale violence. Around 400 youth died in the late 60s when they were killed in the police firing. And, another 400 died in the resurgent Telangana movement. More than 800 youth died so far for the cause of Telangana.

In the latest phase, the youth died in the police firing and a large number of them immolated themselves demanding a separate state – Telangana. A majority of the youth belong to the deprived section – SC, ST and BC.
Telgangana Mahajena Mahila Samakya, a platform fighting for the deprived section of Telangana, has organized a meeting on February 29, 2010 at Sundarayya Vignyan Kendramu, Hyderabad in memory of these brave youth who sacrificed their life for the cause of Telangana. We have facilitated the parents and family members of these brave youth of Telangana.

Telangana Mahajena Mahila Samakya also appealed to the youth of Telangana not to resort to any drastic step of immolation and instead fight the state repression upfront without any immolation.

Jai Telangana  Jai Jai Telangana………………..

Let us continue our fight for the Dalits and Tribals

Dear all,

Jai Bhim.

Andhra Pradesh is at the cross-roads.

The revival of Telangana movement by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) under the leadership of Shri KCR in the last few years has brought the issue of the backwardness  of the region to the fore. The movement has conveyed the people how Telangana has been neglected for the past several decades by the successive governments of the state.

However, the conflict between the Telangana and Samaykhaya Andhra (United Andhra) has pushed back the issues related to the deprived section specially of Dalits. The situation of the Dalits has further worsened due to the lack of a proper leadership in the State who can raise the voice to safeguard their interest. The decreasing employment generation in the government sector and the absence of reservation quota in the private sector has resulted a large number of unemployment among the Dalit and Tribal in the last one decade.

There are a number of issues like Land Reforms which is yet to be carried for the distribution of the land among the landless SCs and STs. Similarly, the small land holding of the poor SCs and STs is being grabbed by the land and builder mafia. A large number of other issues are also there which needs to be resolved.

We need to revisit all the issues related to the deprived sections specially SCs and STs so that the caste and feudal structure can be demolished in the state.

I invite all to send your views, comments and suggestions in a write up format on the above subject at mary_kumari95@yahoo.com

Looking forward for your support,

In Solidarity
